The Cause & The Need
Today, one of America’s most important and untapped mission fields is the marketplace. Most Americans spend more than half their waking hours each week at work, commuting to and from work or with co-workers and/or professional associates. They typically spend more time at work or work-related functions than they do with their families, sleeping, or any other activity.
Recent research indicates nearly 71% of all American workers do not regularly attend church, and therefore have no spiritual foundation on which to base life’s decisions and/or face life’s issues and crises. Thus, TRUTH@WORK's core strategy is to reach and minister where people are spending the majority of their lives—at work!
Often rushed for time, their beliefs and personal and spiritual needs take a back seat to the meetings, deadlines and agendas of the workplace. Yet, the problems at home do not go away...they are simply brought, as emotional baggage, to work each day.
In addition to reaching unchurched people in the marketplace, TRUTH@WORK invests significant resources in equipping Christian business owners and leaders in earning the right to share their faith in the context of marketplace relationships through modeling Christ-like Servant Leadership.
While other ministries and organizations have worked to serve church-attending Christians in the workplace (e.g., Bible Study programs, lunch gatherings, printed literature support, etc.), few have developed strategic initiatives to provide on-going support of Christian change agents. This is a very unique aspect of TRUTH@WORK™. The organization aggressively positions itself as an excellent alternative to leading secular training and consulting companies. Using a Christian faith-based strategy, our desire is to change the American marketplace!
IMPORTANT: Employees who work for organizations they consider to be spiritual are less fearful, less likely to compromise their values, and more able to throw themselves into their jobs.
